Nicholas Galanin Paper Sculptures Inspire Dutch Book Week Ad Campaign Posters.

Advertising and marketing agencies are often inspired by fine art. Such is the case with Etcetera's wonderful promotional posters for Dutch Book Week.

A couple of blogs and design sites have featured the compelling ad campaign, but not all of them have entirely accurate information. The images were created entirely with CGI but were inspired by an artist who actually crafts similar three dimensional sculptures.

Each year, the Collective Promotion Dutch Literature (CPNB) organizes Dutch Book Week to promote Dutch literature and every year a specific genre is featured. This year the Book Week is featuring autobiographies, ‘GeschrevenPortretten’, which roughly translates into 'Written Portraits’.

Marketing agency, Etcetera, created the campaign which features CGI created posters of faces crafted from book pages representing the autobiographies of Anne Frank, Vincent van Gogh, Louis van Gaal and Kader Abdollah (writer of the biographic Book Week give away).

Souverein created the CGI artwork, because of time constraints, which was based on the work by artist Nicholas Galanin.

Coloring Book Couture. Dressing Between The Lines In A Dress You Color In Yourself.

Amsterdam-based graphic designer Michiel Schuurman and and textile designer Berber Soepboer collaborated on this fabulous bit of Fashion DIY.



The "Colour-In" dress is a black and white graphic print dress that is actually sold with colored textile markers, so you can color in the pattern yourself.




Fifty dresses were produced in four different sizes and if, still available, they run 238 euros (without shipping).


The completed dress below was colored in by Michiel, but you can do yours any way you'd like:

- B: chest 89,6 cm, waist 66,4 cm, base width 172,8 cm

Unusual Products From Boudewijn van der Poel of Mutt Design

Dutch designer Boudewijn van der Poel of Mutt Design has quite an imagination. He creates some very unusual looking but functional products. Some are available on online stores, others may be available by contacting him directly.

I wanted to create an everyday product, like a door, that would appeal to people's imagination. The Door of Secrets contains hidden storage compartments, raising people's interest and curiosity. It makes you wonder what is hidden inside and invites exploration. You can shuffle the elements about, so there is interaction between the actual door and user.
