SILVER STREAK

JOIN A METAL BAND!

From gowns to galoshes, the second place medal comes in first!

This Brian Reyes silver and gold lamé dress, pictured at left, is sultry and sexy, with a delicate chiffon overlay and keyhole back detail. Even better, it's currently on sale at shopbop.com!

The black straps on this Philosophy di Alberta Feretti ruffled satin dress make it very “of the moment” (at right, for purchase at Neiman Marcus). And the gathered side makes for a forgiving fit for a historically difficult to wear shiny silk fabric!

This ABS metallic brocade sheath dress is deceptively simple, with a lovely textured fabric and flirty a-line shape (at Bloomingdale’s).

Or, gild any dress with an incredible (and surprisingly affordable!) Fallon Mesh Bandana Necklace. This and other amazing one-of-a-kind jewels are at Barneys New York – check them out!

For the ultimate in luxe silver, privileged are the few who get to wear Chanel Couture, like this gorgeous star brooch-detailed gown for the Spring 2008 Collection. Detail photo at left courtesy style.com.

Perhaps a bit more difficult to wear than a shiny frock, but certainly no less dramatic, is this Jean Paul Gaultier silver trench from the Spring RTW (runway shot at right via nymag.com/fashion). Maybe it's a tad Samantha on Sex and the City, but it could work splendidly for the right evening event. Shine on, darlings!

GOLD STANDARD

Perhaps it’s the superhero buzz, or the upcoming Olympics, but the ORO draws near!
The WEALTH of incredible 24 karat frocks out there is astounding.

My fave is this Alberta Ferretti Chain Embellished Dress (at top right, available at net-a-porter.com). It has that Ode on a Grecian Goddess look without the stench of the vomitorium.

A bit more daring and difficult to wear (perhaps due to the drop waist, which is decidedly an acquired taste), but equally as captivating is Burberry Prorsum’s feathered gold short sleeve shift from the Ready to Wear collections in Milan.

At Nathan Jenden (left), gold did not suffice. This weighty strapless creation combines silver, bronze and other heavy metals. A substantial creation!

Reem Acra makes the precious metal look weightless in this diaphanous creation for the Spring 2008 Collection. The purple belted waist makes it more girly and less scandalous, as this fabric is both sheer and clingy.

Sienna Miller always wears gold to stunning effect, as she did in this banded waist Chanel frock (this image courtesy glam.com).
Lastly, Goldfinger must have been on hand at the Jean Paul Gaultier show, as the models' arms, hands and even her fingernails were dipped in fourteen karat paint!

Give all these designers a medal (because they clearly already have a metal)!
